A belated welcome to our new home

Australian Volunteers International officially welcomed to Fitzroy.

Welcome to Country

We were privileged to have Wurundjeri Elder, Uncle Perry Wandin, conduct a Smoking Ceremony to belatedly welcome us to our new(ish) office at 160 Johnston Street Fitzroy.

AVI moved into its new home in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and so did not have the opportunity to have a Wurundjeri Elder invite us to their traditional lands through a Welcome to Country ceremony.

Smoking Ceremonies are believed to cleanse the area of bad spirits and promote the protection and wellbeing of visitors.
