Federated States of Micronesia

Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei and Yap might be Pacific islands you haven't heard of before, but don't let that deter you. Spread across 2,500 kilometres of western Pacific Ocean, just north of the equator, the four island states make up the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), each with its own unique culture and identity.

Our priority areas

Strengthening disaster risk reduction

Volunteer assignments focus on building local capacity in disaster risk reduction through improved food security and maintenance of natural features, managing watersheds and protecting habitats that sustain provision of environmental services and goods that protect against disasters.

Improving education outcomes

Australian volunteers work to improve access to and quality of education through development of educational resources and teacher training.

Improving water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)

Australian volunteers contribute to the improvement of water and sanitation facilities through training of local staff.
