The Community Volunteering for Change project is an established program between The University of Melbourne and AVI that gives students the opportunity to make a contribution to local communities through their project work, research, and engagement with locally run development organisations in Indonesia and India.

Undergraduate students from various faculties will be placed in one of AVI's community-based partner organisations. In Indonesia, students will volunteer with SATUNAMA, a not-for-profit organisation that works for people's empowerment through facilitation, advocacy, and training.

In India, students will volunteer with Restless Development, a global agency for youth-led development.

Projects will commence in January 2019. Applications for this intake are now closed.

AVI and the University or Melbourne are also proud to collaborate on projects in India with our partner organisation, Pravah. Pravah has been working in India since 1993, on developing leadership capacities of young people to unleash their ability to bring about transformational social change.

Projects have included students working on action research projects focused on building awareness and advocacy of a social inclusion issue faced by a marginalised group within Indian society.
