Lawyers are in it for the PILnet

Fijian lawyers represent the Blue Pacific Pro Bono Collaborative program at the PILnet Global Forum in Bangkok.

As a member of the Blue Pacific Pro Bono Collaborative*, AVI is proud to have facilitated the participation of Fijian lawyers to the 2024 PILnet Global Forum in Bangkok.

Thanks to the generous support of the UK Government, five Fiji Law Society members attended the 2024 PILnet Global Forum in Bangkok.

The forum provided a rare opportunity to connect with Pro Bono lawyers from across the region to discuss best practices, challenges and opportunities. One of the biggest being impact measurement and how to increase pro bono participation.

Also key to discussions was how pro bono and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) are related in law firm practice and how firms can formulate approaches to both.

“We look forward to continuing the work with the Blue Pacific Pro Bono Collaborative to create more opportunities for Fijian lawyers to engage in meaningful pro bono work locally and internationally.” Fiji Law Society

*The Blue Pacific Pro Bono Collaborative is a partnership between four of Australia’s leading law firms, AVI and Pacific law societies. The Collaborative represents a comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting enhanced access to justice and climate adaption and resilience, strengthening of law and justice systems, addressing unmet legal needs and supporting and further embedding pro bono culture and impact across the Pacific region. The program is supported by the UK Government.
