AVI Board members, CEO and volunteers past and present were proud in joining the Australian Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells at Parliament House on Monday 12 February, to launch the next phase of the Australian Volunteers program, an Australian Government initiative.
Over the next five years, the Australian Volunteers program will place around 5000 Australians in a wide range of volunteer assignments across 26 nations in the Indo-Pacific. The program is especially committed to enabling Australians from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, as well as those living with disabilities, to engage in volunteering abroad.
On the 26th of February, The Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon Julie Bishop, posted a video encouraging all Australians to get involved in volunteering. See the video below:
