A rare opportunity exists to join the Australian Volunteers Program as a Regional Recruitment Officer on join our team in Honiara, Solomon Islands! The role will support all our volunteer recruitment activity in in Solomon Islands and Kiribati, as well as proactively engage with our Partner Organisations to best understand their needs when developing meaningful volunteer assignments and placing our volunteers on assignments in-country.

AVI supports the implementation of the Australian Volunteers Program on behalf of the Australian Government.  The Australian Volunteers Program sends skilled Australian volunteers on assignments in 26 countries to work alongside organisations to sustainably build the capacity of people, organisations and communities.

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • Formal qualifications (e.g. Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration) or equivalent experience, in a similar position(s)
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Knowledge and experience in the implementation of a range of recruitment strategies
  • Demonstrated experience supporting of international programs, preferably in a development context, including recruitment, administration, finance and information management
  • A high level of cross-cultural awareness as well as some understanding of the challenges faced when working in an international development context
  • Strong knowledge of international development issues and challenges and an in-depth understanding of the history, culture and political system of the Solomon Islands and Kiribati
  • Understanding of and commitment to EEO, child protection and privacy principles
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Highly developed judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent administrative, organisational, and computer literacy skills
